What to See and Do
Star Wars Experience
The Star Wars exhibition is currently the most immersing, exciting and unique experience at Madame Tussauds London. It features 17 of the most famous and well-known characters in classic scenes from some of the most iconic episodes in the Star Wars Universe.
The exhibition opened in 2015 letting fans come face-to-face with Yoda, meet Stormtroopers, see the battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader on the Death Star, and even travel through space on the Millenium Falcon with Chewbacca.
The exhibition covers 2 floors and is included in the standard admission fee.
James Bond Exhibition
Get up close and personal to the Agent 007 of your choice. With its opening in 2015, the special display features all six bond actors – Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Daniel Craig, and Pierce Brosnan. It took a team of 20 artists four months and almost $1.2 million (about $200,000 each figure) to complete the display.
All six figures wear classic 007 dinner suits created by Oscar-winning designer Lindy Hemming. The six Agents stand together against an iconic gun barrel backdrop and look so realistic that you can almost hear them saying their legendary phrase: “Bond. James Bond”.
The Royals
A visit to London would not be complete without meeting the Royals. Marvel Comics 4D Experience
One of the latest and most visited attractions at Madame Tussauds is the Marvel 4D experience featuring superheroes from Marvel Comics. Though it is not the largest 4D installation, it is arguably one of the most prestigious.
Visitors to the Marvel exhibition enter the secret Superhero Command Centre, where they have an opportunity to explore numerous exciting and impressive exhibits before proceeding to the auditorium. The exhibits include the realistic wax figures of a giant Hulk, a lifesize Spiderman on the ceiling, a powerful Iron Man, and many others.
The 4D movie is created by Threshold Animation Studios in London. It is about the superheroes saving the capital from evil and destruction by a giant robot. The movie itself can be described as a miracle of immersive technology. It includes the 3D action projected on a 16:9 screen, animated effects, and 4D effects delivered via seating, strobes, wind machines, and moving heads around the dome perimeter.
Sherlock Holmes Experience
Opened in 2016, the Sherlock Holmes Experience is a permanent theatrical challenge bringing visitors to the mysterious world of the fictional detective. The visitors’ mission is to help Dr. Watson to find the missing Sherlock Holmes by completing a journey from Baker Street to the moorland of Dartmoor where the demon lives.
It is an astonishing and interactive experience filled with hidden clues, theatrical sets, special effects, and a cast of characters. It is definitely the most innovative and engaging experience at Madame Tussauds London you cannot miss.
Death Masks
Madame Tussaud led a very interesting life: she participated in the events of the French Revolution, and started her trade by making death masks from the victims of the movement, who were guillotined. The masks of famous people including Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI became the symbol for the revolution and can be seen in the Madame Tussauds Museum in London today.

- All wax figures in the museum are made 2 per cent larger than real people. The reason for that is that wax has the property of shrinking.
- The museum was hit by German bombs in 1940 during the Second World War. As a result, over 350 head moulds were destroyed.
- Madame Tussaud created her first figure at a very young age. Marie Tussaud was only 15 when she made her first wax sculpture of the French Philosopher Voltaire.
History
- 1835 – Madame Tussaud and her son set up the Baker Street Bazaar in London, displaying wax figures of Marie Antoinette and other victims of the French Revolution.
- 1884 – the Museum was moved by Tussaud’s grandson to its current location on Marylebone Road.
- 1996 – the display of Time Magazine’s 100 people of the 20th century was opened.
- 2015 – James Bond Exhibition and Star Wars Experience was opened.
- 2016 – interactive and theatrical world of Sherlock Holmes was created.
Facilities and Accessibility
Madame Tussauds London is located on Marylebone Road, only a few minutes walk from Baker Street tube station.
It is a wheelchair accessible facility, except one themed ride “Spirit of London Ride” where visitors have to be able to walk up to 40 steps on a gradient between 30 and 50 degrees.
There are numerous food stands in the museum with a great selection of snacks, drinks, and confectionery. However, there is no hot food provided by the stands. Only the food and drinks purchased in the museum are allowed to be brought into the attraction.
No pets are permitted into the museum, except guide dogs, seeing-eye dogs, and hearing-ear dogs.
Toilets are located on every floor within the museum. There is also a cloakroom facility located at the side of the building next to the Gift Shop.
