Your guide will provide you with interesting facts about the history of the stadium and West ham United FC, while also regaling you with stories of events and the people who helped to make them happen.

Queen Elizabeth Park

The London Stadium is located in Queen Elizabeth Park where many of the Olympic and Paralympic events were held in 2012. The park is a great place to explore and relax after your stadium tour. There is something for everyone with beautiful parklands and waterways set alongside world-class sporting venues, plus play areas for the kids and great views from the UK’s tallest sculpture, the ArcelorMittal Orbit.

Did You Know: (5 interesting facts!)

  1. Following the Olympics, the stadium went through a huge transformation as part of a legacy to make it an all year round multi-use venue.
  2. When initially built around 800,000 tonnes of soil had to be excavated and removed from the site, enough soil to fill the iconic Royal Albert Hall 9 times over.
  3. The stadium is located at the southern end of Queen Elizabeth Park and was built on what is in effect an island as modifications of waterways meant access was via footbridges.
  4. The roof is now twice the size of the original one following the stadium transformation after the Olympics, covering all the seats and the largest of its kind in the world.
  5. A re-configuration of the lower tier seats means they are retractable, providing additional space when hosting athletics or music concerts, but allowing them to be moved so fans are closer to the action for football and rugby matches.

Groups may be able to arrange food packages in advance of their tour. Similarly, the club shop will be open where you can purchase a selection of sporting souvenirs and gifts.
